At Weatherables, we still manufacture the same high quality, made in the USA (right here in Columbus, Ohio to be exact), heavy duty vinyl fencing and railing that we did 20 years ago. Our products can be up to 50% heavier/thicker than the competition and are 5x stronger than wood (based on 6606 PSI tensile strength). However, since thinner/lighter vinyl products often look similar in appearance, it's easy to see why the difference in quality often goes unnoticed until after the product has been installed. At Weatherables we manufacture our products using the newest technologies to ensure our products are the strongest on the market. Using the more advanced co-extrusion technology, provides the strength you’ve come to expect from our vinyl. It also means that our product is made of two layers. The outer layer contains concentrated amounts of UV protection – 10-12 parts per 100 of TI02/Titanium Dioxide. The inner layer contains CPE/Acrylic impact modifiers, the strongest impact modifiers in the industry. This inner layer is a key reason why Weatherables’ products consistently outperform the competition in impact testing.

Many of the other vinyl products you see on the market today are made using older mono-extrusion technology (and are often times being imported from China). Products manufactured by mono-extrusion are simply not as strong simply because they can’t leverage the same impact modifiers that we are able to use in co-extrusion. The impact modifiers we use are a darker color but because they are hidden in the second inner layer, they are not visible once the fence is installed. Products made via mono-extrusion are unable to use the same impact modifiers because it would impact the color of the product. Because of this, it is very difficult to get the same tensile strength from mono-extrusion as you do from co-extrusion.

On the outside surface, we use virgin vinyl material for consistent bright color. Beneath the surface layer, is a second layer of high quality, clean recycled vinyl that comes from recycled vinyl siding and windows. The recycled siding and window vinyl was original manufactured to meet the stringent standards required in the home building industry which means it is actually a higher quality PVC than fencing requires. However, that’s precisely why we use it. The recycled vinyl, provides strength and stability we can’t get from virgin vinyl. Since siding and windows often come in a variety of colors, you’ll notice that the inside of our posts and rails are often a different color than the outside.

As we mentioned, all of our vinyl fencing and railing is manufactured using the newest co-extrusion technology. The top layer consists of top quality, premium grade virgin vinyl while the bottom layer consists of recycled vinyl from the home building industry. It’s the bottom later that really makes all the difference in providing the main source of strength our products are known for.

Titanium Dioxide: The outer layer of vinyl contains high grade titanium dioxide, providing advanced UV protection.

CPE/Acrylic impact modifiers: The inner layer of our vinyl contains CPE/Acrylic impact modifiers, the toughest impact modifiers in the industry. This allows our products to provide superior strength and lasting durability.

Tin Stabilizer: Our vinyl contains a tin stabilizer, which prevents our products from looking chalky or grayed out over time. Our vinyl also includes a resin that ensures that our extrusions are resistant to both rain and humidity.

Our posts are .150” thick while many competitors on the market today are using a thinner .135" thick post to save costs. The thinner posts others are offering are often cheaper but it’s important to remember that because they use less vinyl, they are not as strong. At Weatherables we do not offer .135” thick posts because the thinner wall thickness is more likely to crack or break upon normal impact leading to unnecessary repairs, costs and a negative customer experience.

Our vinyl fencing and railing is available in white, tan and khaki. The Savannah and Augusta vinyl fencing styles are also available in gray. Our aluminum fencing and railing is available in black.

Vinyl products are not more expensive than wood in the long run. Although your investment may be more initially with vinyl, you’ll save on the maintenance and replacement costs over the life of your product. Wooden fencing and railing (with proper care and upkeep) will need to be replaced 6 or 7 times in a lifetime whereas our vinyl products come with alifetime transferable warranty!The upfront cost difference between wood and vinyl is quickly offset by the substantial cost of maintenance and repair required to upkeep wood. Vinyl is the most economical way to go, confidently saving you money year after year.

Our vinyl fencing & railing contains impact inhibitors which prevent it from breaking (assuming it is installed correctly) under normal use and conditions. Of course, dramatic and direct impact (such as being struck by a car) can cause damage, however, even if that happens, as the manufacturer we’re able to work with you to get replacement parts should you ever need them.

While vinyl materials do become less flexible when it's cold, our products are designed to accommodate changes in temperature. The impact modifiers we use to prevent our vinyl from breaking also allows it to withstand cold weather conditions.

Yes! Vinyl has a smooth non-porous surface with no sharp edges or splinters. Your children and animals are actually safer when compared to wood fences. Vinyl has a tough surface that doesn’t retain moisture.
